Throughout the year we hold several club races in place of training. These internal races are fun events followed by a social gathering for presentation of prizes and refreshments afterwards. Results for these races can be found in the results section of the website. Dates for our 2025 internal races:

Gold Hill Hilly – Sunday 19th January

Broad Oak Hilly – Thursday 24th Apri

This year Tim Cotton is organising the race, and as the name suggests, a hilly race at Broad Oak!

Suzy Vivian Hill Climb – Thursday 29th May

This race is organised by Spencer Mogridge and starts and finishes in Okeford Fitzpaine. There’s just a little hill in between and quite a big down hill! Last year we were pleased to announce that this race now has 2 brand new shields for the fastest male and female. Race starts 7.15pm. Allowing time for some runners to run from the Leisure Centre to Okeford. It would be great to see lots of you this year!

John Deacon Handicap – Thursday 26th June

This race is one of our most popular club events. All the runners set off according to their recent pace/timings so that the slowest members set off first. The aim is, if everyone runs according to their pace, that everyone crosses the finish line together. In reality though, this rarely happens although one year, 10 runners crossed the finish line within 2 seconds!

Duathlon – Thursday (Date TBA)

This race is a really fun race for all members. It consists of running, then cycling and then running again. Don’t be put off if you haven’t got a bike, you can always team up with someone who has. Also don’t worry if you don’t have the latest carbon fibre racer, people turn up on all sorts of bikes; even their mums shopping bike! There is even a shorter route for less race complaint bikes.

Sturminster 5 – Thursday 4th December

This hotly contested road race comprises 5 miles around Sturminster Newton, including a couple of the best hills in Stur. Meet at the Leisure Centre at 7pm. Presentation of the fantastic race trophies will take place in the White Hart Alehouse following the race.
